I'm calling 2 dances at English on Monday the 24th. If I'm not mistaken it may be a mixed bag of callers. We would love to have all of you come and dance. Focal Point--7pm workshop with dancing from 7:30-9:30. Bring a snack to share if you feel so inclined.
Also, mark your calendars for May 3rd for the annual Playford Ball. It's always a good time! Details to come.

Eeek! I'm playing the Youth Contra on Monday night so won't be able to come. :-(
On a happy note, however, some of us hatchlings may be calling a dance or two there. Maybe you could zip over and call for two dances in one night!

Turns out the Youth Contra dance I'm playing isn't until later, so I was able to go to ECD.
It was a wonderful dance - lots of people came (at one point I counted around 30, so there could have been more) and Chrystal and Susan did themselves proud. (Peter was terrific, as always.)
I'm starting to get slightly less freaked out at Englishy dance moves, and since more of the calling was on time (i.e., before we have to do the move), it really started to flow better for me.
One of our challenges is going to be trying to remember which moves are English, and which contra. Maybe we should start a list.
If we do, the problem is not going to be synonyms ("Back to back" vs "Dosido") but homonyms ("Cast off" vs "Cast off") or near-homonyms (Rights and Lefts vs Right and Left Through).
Surely someone has done this.
