Hello,
Here are directions to get to Ted and Judy's house for our calling discussion at 7:00 on Wednesday evening:
Prerequisite:
Locate University City on an area map
Option 1:
Take Hanley Road to Delmar Blvd.
Option 2:
Take Delmar Blvd to Hanley Road.
The final approach:
From Delmar and Hanley, proceed one block north on Hanley to Gannon Ave.
Turn east (right) on Gannon, to the end of the block (or nearly so). Look left.
The second-from-the-end house on your left is 7421 Gannon. Look for the flag flying over the driveway.
Park and come on in.
We'll expect you around 7:00 pm. Bring your calling cards, notes, ideas, and (if you wish) an eatable or drinkable to share. (We'll have some, too.)
We'll be dancing on a wooden floor in the living room, so we'll ask for no shoes. Thanks.
Ted & Judy

What a wonderful space! Thank you Ted and Judy for your gracious hospitality and for the chance to try out our calling again.
Don called a lovely choreographed waltz, Wade called a good solid and fun contra, Bob worked out a couple more bugs in what will surely be a fun new dance soon, and Kay called "Saint Louis", a lovely Colin Hume dance written for "us" just last January.
We talked, again, about what makes for good calling. We talked about the difficulty visiting callers often have in telling how good the crowd is. Ted told us Kathy Anderson's trick for finding out the level - she'll call a fairly simple dance without much explanation, and watch. If people have trouble with the simple calls, she knows to follow it with easy dances with more explanation, and if the crowd just sails through, she knows she can kick it up a notch. That Kathy. She's so smart...
