I'll be out of town, again! I've been gone 3 weekends in a row now. You all will start to think I've left...I haven't, just been busy.
Hope all is well!

Thanks for thinking of us! We have, in fact missed you...But life is long and there are many dances yet left to dance.
I thought that in January, we would each pick our favorite dance from 2008 and call that, consistent, of course with the need for at least a FEW simple dances!
I've also been yearning for a serious night of ECD. Wouldn't it be great to find a space for an ECD-only Calling Party sometime where we would have room to really MOVE on the casts and figure eights? Surely someone we know has an old ballroom in the attic...
You'd be happy to hear that Kay did a great job of teaching a double figure of eight last night, and that everyone managed to learn it in record time. I've also been working on figuring out a way to teach it, and can't wait to find four willing non-ECD dancers to try it on. Something about a train set for Christmas and pointing to your corners...

Our family room has a bit more width than Bob and Martha's and can fit four couples. It's not ideal--carpeted, but a pretty flat carpet--but would work if anyone wants to try.
Another possibility is to rent the Folk School some evening--it'll hold probably eight couples with plenty of space. That floor seems to be wood over concrete (I'm guessing--does anyone know for sure?) so it's not ideal either. I think ECD paid $40 for three hours, or something like that.
Focal Point has a great floor, of course, but the cost goes up to $75 for a weekday, after the first of the year.
I'd love to find that ballroom in someone's house....
Our Dining room is 14' X 17' Minus a little with the buffet on one side wall (That's when we move the table to the living room which is easy to do.) I dont know how that goes for more space or even how many couples will fit in that ammount of space. We have wood floors. I think I would just have to ask the neighbor downstairs if he cared if we danced above him!
